Lead Data Scientist – Consumer Insights
My client, an E-commence company in Cambridge that markets Biochemicals and Proteins to Life Scientists, requires a Lead Data Scientist to drive and build its marketing capability. This is a permanent job role starting as soon as possible, although candidates with a notice period will be considered.
The key objective of this role apply Machine Learning techniques to encompasses how the company uses both internal and external large semi-structured and unstructured data to predict future R&D opportunities, as well as developing your own real-time algorithms to deliver personalised marketing and web experiences. Due to customers of this company being Life Scientists, optimising their marketing will mean you will be speeding the discovery of cures to diseases like Cancer.
The Customer Insight team of 8 is currently made up of Analysts, Developers, Engineers and Life Scientists. The team are keen for a Data Science professional to join them and nurture internal Data Science intelligence. As the only Data Science professional you will be creating benchmarks which will massively impact and optimise every day business decisions. You will have the authority to build a team and autonomy to achieve results in your own way, whilst working in a collaborative environment.

Duties
– Expertise in analysing large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets with a variety of tools.

– Expertise in Data Mining, Machine Learning Optimisation, Simulation.

– Experience in building algorithms commerically, ideally in online ecommerce environments

– Experience using open source big-data technology

– Working knowledge of Python and R

– Working knowledge of Java and/or Scala as Data Sets grow

– Experience using techniques such as Bayesian Methods, Clustering, Decision Trees, Linear and Non-Linear Programming, Random Forests, SVM etc.

– Ability to translate complex results into clear insights and then communicate verbally and through compelling written documents

– Highly collaborative

– Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a changing environment

– Ability to prioritise; good project management skills

– Clear communicator
